​2: Annual Title I Meeting

The Annual Title I meeting should not be used to ask for parent input, but provided as an opportunity to disseminate information and distribute copies of the revised parent and family engagement policy.)

  • Conduct an annual Title I meeting to inform parents of the requirements of Title I and the school's participation, an annual evaluation using a comprehensive needs assessment filled out by teachers, parents and school staff. The Title I Committee will be comprised of teachers, parents, and school staff and will determine the effectiveness of the parental involvement plan and will make changes if warranted. While collecting evidence about satisfaction with the program and the school's efforts to increase parental involvement will be part of the evaluation; the survey will also collect specific information on the: (1) growth in number of parents participating in workshops and meetings; (2) specific needs of parents; (3) effectiveness of specific strategies; and (4)engagement of parents in activities to support student academic growth.
  • To inform parents of their rights under Title I, an annual meeting will be held on in September, 2020.

  • The school parent and family engagement plan will be available to families and the local community.
  • The parent facilitator for Hamburg High School is Terri Riley and can be contacted at triley@hsdlions.org
  • HHS will ensure that the plan is written in an understandable and uniform format, to the extent practicable, provided in a language the parents can understand, and that the informational packet is appropriate for the age and grade of each child.  
  • HHS will distribute an informational packet annually to include 
  • Parents will be able to view student grades and contact teachers with a user name and password on E-School.
  • Teachers will contact parents/guardians on a regular basis using e-mail, phone calls, and postcards to update them on progress reports.
  • The school will provide to parents report cards every six weeks with information regarding their child's academic progress and upcoming classroom and school events. The school will use the student handbook, school website, signage at school entrance, and parent orientation meetings about school wide Title I Plan and how to get a copy upon request.
  • The school will utilize Blackboard Connect and Remind 101 calling system to notify parents of major events.
  • A weekly bulletin will be distributed to all students and posted on school website to notify parents of important events and deadlines.

4: School-Parent Compact

​Does the School Parent and Family Engagement Plan describe how the school will accomplish each of the required components?​
  • HHS Open House will be held during August, 2020 beginning at 5:30 until 8:00. Parents will assemble according to their students' current grade level. Back to school policies and procedures will be discussed and at the end of the assembly, parents will be given given access to student schedules.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences will be held during September, 2020 beginning at 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A second conference will be held in the spring during February, 2020 at the same as in fall.
  • October, 2021 a financial aid night for seniors and their guardians will be held.
  • Later in October, 2021 there will be a will follow up financial aid night to complete FAFSA forms on computers.
  • East Night Out will partner with HHS Teacher Cadets to offer Hamburg High School parents and community members a look into what both programs do throughout the school year. This event will be held during November, 2021 during Senior Night at Campbell Field. By having the event during a home football game, more community members and parents can be involved. There will be a drawing for a $50.00 prize. East will set up the green screen and display the Daily HHS News. Snacks will be available on the table purchased from Nancy's in Crossett $200.00.
  • The "White Coat STEM Ceremony" will occur in the spring semester around the months of March or April and has yet to be determined. Snacks and drinks will be catered by Nancy's in Crossett $400.00.
  • During the spring semester of 2022, HHS will announce an AP Parent Night along with information on scheduling. Parents will be encouraged to ask questions regarding the next school year. These advents will be advertised in both The Ledger and Ashley County News Observer for those parents not on social media. For those parents unable to attend, accommodations will be made.
  • The school will follow a jointly developed parent and school compact after holding a meeting with parent and school committee members who will discuss and develop a parent-school compact. Parents will be involved in the planning, review, and improvement of parent and family engagement programs. Parents will help develop engagement programs that bring about more parental involvement at HHS and will then, at the end of the year, assess the plan's progress and efficiency.​
  • School staff, parents, and students will develop a school-parent-student compact. This compact will outline how parents, school staff, and students share the responsibility for improving student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the state's high academic standards. All stakeholders will sign the compact.

5: Reservation of Funds

  • The school will involve parents and family members of children receiving services under Title I in the decisions regarding how reserved funds are allotted for parent and family engagement activities.
  • Title I Allocation for the district is $532,193.06. At 1.1, the requirement is $5321.93 and the district has gone above and allocated $6,550.00.
  • HSD is school wide Title I.  
  • October, 2021 will be the financial aid night for seniors and their guardians. Refreshments will be provided.
